The Exquisite Stuff

Metallic shoes

Metallic shoes

Metallic shoes

Pip Hold metallic shoes are made from high quality leather with a metallic foil coating.  Designed to wear sporadically, continual wear will result  in damage to the foil coating.  Treat metallic shoes very carefully.  Store as you would any other leather shoe - in a cool, dry, well ventilated place, away from other shoes and indeed each other to prevent damaging the foil coating.

A simple wipe with a very nearly damp cloth (metallic shoes are sensitive to water) will do wonders to keep them clean, but we also offer a metallic shoe care products in our online shop.

Remember it is very important to maintain your soles and heel tips.

Crystals

Love them endlessly, wear them sparingly ..... or not! Just remember, regardless of how well the crystals are attached to a shoe or piece of clothing, continual wear will result in crystals detaching.

Store as you would any other shoe - in a cool, dry, well ventilated place, away from other shoes and indeed each other to prevent damaging the crystals or the shoe fabric.

If your crystals get wet, dry them immediately -  but very gently. Water can damage the surface of the crystal and reduce its shine so try not to get them wet. A regular very gentle  wipe with a cotton bud should help to maintain that sparkle.

Hair hide shoes

Hair hide shoes

Treat hair hide (or faux fur) shoes in the same way as you would treat other delicate shoes. To remove dirt, wipe the hair smoothly in the direction of the hair with a damp (but not wet) cloth using a hide cleaner product if necessary. Do not soak the hair or get it too wet.

Brushing your hair hide shoe may help to keep the hair soft and fluffy and may assist to remove dust and dirt.

For common stains like red wine, coffee etc. soak up spills with paper towel or sponge immediately.

Remove solid mater with a blunt edge of a knife by scraping gently in the direction of the hair. Then wipe the hide hair shoes with a damp (but not wet) sponge or cloth using a mild soapy solution.

If you think you need to, wiping the hair hide with a damp cloth using a diluted 5% white vinegar and 95% water solution, can sometimes assist the natural hide hair return to it's pre-soiled texture and can assist in eliminating odours. Be sure to test on an unseen part of the shoe first to ensure it won't damage the hair.

For oil based stains like grease, lipstick, tar and chewing gum – remove solid mater from the hair hide with the blunt edge of a knife by scraping gently in the direction of the hair. Some say applying Eucalyptus oil directly to the affected area on a soft cloth or cotton wool bud by dabbing gently may assist in removing the matter, but be sure to test on an unseen part of the shoe first to ensure that it won't damage the hair. Finally wipe down with damp (but not wet) sponge or cloth using a mild soapy solution.

Feather shoes

Treat feather shoes very carefully. Store as you would any other delicate shoe - in a cool, dry, well ventilated place, out of direct sunlight. To prevent damage preferably store them away from each other and other shoes.

Do not wear your feather shoes in wet conditions.  If you do get caught out, dry the feathers as soon as possible with cool air (a hairdryer on a very cool and low fan setting is preferable, but a bathroom hand dryer at a reasonable distance from the feather to ensure the air is neither too hot nor to strong, may also do the trick). Once dry, shake soft fluffy feathers to return them to their full fluffiness or gently brush stronger feathers with a soft bristled brush to restore them to their full feathery structure.

Remember feathers are so delicate that any contamination will transfer directly upon touching.

Always handle your feather shoes with clean hands to avoid transfer of makeup, moisturiser etc, to avoid the feathers becoming dirty, limp and lackluster, and ultimately destroying the look of your exquisite feather shoes.
