Store your patent leather shoes (particularly light coloured ones) away from other shoes to prevent scuffing and other marks.
Remembering patent leather is only coated on one side of the leather, with the underside still being exposed as a natural fibre, storing your patent leather shoes in the same manner as your leather shoes (in a cool, dry place) is recommended.
Polish your shoes with a good quality patent leather shoe cleaner regularly.
Dirt and dust will simply wipe away with a damp cloth, then polish with a dry cloth to restore shine.
Soles and heel tips must be kept in good condition. Replace both well before they wear completely down. Once the tip or sole is completely worn irreparable damage may be caused to the shoe, making them not only look unattractive, but also no longer nice to wear.
Make sure you go to a reputable shoe repairer. It's a small investment to make on such a special pair of shoes!
Surface marks can be removed with a damp cloth and shine and colour can be restored through regular polishing.
Having a patent leather cleaner in your shoe kit is a good investment if you are wanting to prolong the life of your patent leather shoes. Left untreated the patent leather may crack after a significant amount of wear.
Even though patent leather shoes are more resistant to water than other leathers, do not leave wet droplets on your patent leather shoes for any longer than you have to.
Simply wipe the shoe over with a dry cloth (preferably microfibre - but any soft clean cloth will do) to remove water, then polish with a good quality patent leather cleaner.
Remember the inside of the shoe remains natural leather so ensure that the shoe is given plenty of time to dry out before your next wear.
